The time between worlds is part of the network

FastCable connects local infrastructure on Dione, Calypso, Io, and the Sea of Tranquility through surface fiber, orbital relay stations, and directed optical links.

Network layer

Every route begins locally

  • Local fiber

    Surface fiber connects settlements on each body. The first span stays on the ground, where it can be serviced without waiting for an orbital window.

  • Directed optical links

    Laser terminals operate at 1550 nm across vacuum paths with clear line of sight. Aperture, pointing accuracy, and range are set for each route.

  • Orbital relays

    Relay stations carry traffic across gaps in local coverage. A route is available while both terminals remain in view.

  • Scheduled transport

    Data is forwarded in bundles against published visibility windows. Local caches hold traffic until the next path opens.

Pointing and acquisition

Before traffic moves, each optical terminal acquires its counterpart and maintains alignment with sub-microradian correction.

Visibility planning

Transfer windows are calculated from orbital ephemerides and released one cycle ahead.

Cache and replication

Nodes keep local copies of active bundles and replicate critical data to adjacent routes.

Autonomous maintenance

AI agents monitor alignment, thermal state, and link integrity, then schedule maintenance within the next viable window.

Capacity across the backbone

Aggregate backbone capacity: 100 Gb/s.

The 100 Gb/s figure is the sum of the backbone’s trunk segments. Individual routes are provisioned against their own visibility windows and traffic profiles.

Support at the node

Each node hosts a local AI agent that diagnoses faults against its own operational record. Work that depends on another moon is queued for the next available transmission window.

    Relay SA-07 realigned at Dione

    Relay SA-07 completed two scheduled maneuvers during the September window. The current transfer timetable remains in effect.

  • Capacity

    Second lunar cache replica enters service

    A second replica is now serving the Sea of Tranquility network. Verification continues through the next synchronization window.

  • Schedule

    Io transfer windows revised

    The next Jovian window plan updates the departure sequence for Io–Calypso transit. Existing bundles will be resequenced at their origin nodes.

  • Commissioning

    Second transit span connected at Calypso

    The new span has been brought into the Calypso node. Final activation follows completion of pointing checks.
